LEGAL
TERMS OF USE.
Effective October 26, 2026. The plain-language rules for using the Vet Nation website, and the promises we make to you in return.
THE SHORT VERSION
These terms are written in plain language. Here is what they say:
Use this site lawfully and respectfully, and don’t try to harm it or other people.
The information here is general. It is not medical, legal, financial or VA benefits advice, and Vet Nation is not part of the VA or any government agency.
If you share a story, photo or video with us, you still own it. You can take back your permission at any time.
Donations are processed securely. You can cancel a monthly gift at any time, and we fix mistakes.
We email or text you only the way you agreed to, and you can stop at any time.
We work to make this site accessible to everyone, and we will help you another way if something gets in your way.
Nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer protection, disability or privacy laws.
1. AGREEING TO THESE TERMS
These Terms of Use apply to myvetnation.org and its pages, forms, member areas and donation pages (the “site”). By using the site, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Notice. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site. You can still reach us by phone or mail.
2. WHO WE ARE
The site is run by Vet Nation Nonprofit (“Vet Nation,” “we” or “us”), a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, EIN 42-3963992, at 700 Nexton Square Drive, PMB 17457429, Summerville, SC 29486. Call (843) 531-1125 or email team@myvetnation.org.
3. IN AN EMERGENCY, AND WHAT THIS SITE IS NOT
If you are in crisis, call the Veterans Crisis Line: dial 988, then press 1, or text 838255. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. The site and our forms are not watched around the clock, so please don’t use them for emergencies.
Information on the site is general and for education and connection. It is not medical, mental health, legal, financial or VA benefits advice, and it does not create a professional relationship. Talk with a qualified professional or an accredited veterans service officer about your own situation.
Vet Nation is an independent nonprofit. We are not part of, or endorsed by, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense or any other government agency.
4. LINKS AND SERVICES FROM OTHERS
The site links to and uses services run by others, such as the Veteran Resources portal, YouTube, Candid, payment processors and the cookie-consent tool. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them. A link is not an endorsement, and we are not responsible for other sites’ content. If a link is broken or a resource is out of date, please tell us.
5. ACCOUNTS AND MEMBER ACCESS
If you create an account, give accurate information, keep your password private and tell us right away if you think someone else is using your account. You are responsible for activity in your account that you allow. We may pause or close an account that breaks these terms; we will tell you why, unless the law or safety prevents it. You can close your account at any time; see our Help & FAQ page.
6. USING THE SITE RESPECTFULLY
When you use the site, please don’t:
break the law or help anyone else do so
harass, threaten, bully or discriminate against anyone
pretend to be someone else, including a veteran, service member or Vet Nation representative
post someone else’s personal information, or their story or photo, without their permission
upload viruses or harmful code, try to get into parts of the site you aren’t allowed to, or overload or disrupt the site
collect information from the site with automated tools in a way that harms the site or its users
remove, block or interfere with the site’s accessibility features, or use the site to send spam or misleading fundraising appeals
We may remove content or limit access to protect people and the site.
7. STORIES, PHOTOS AND OTHER CONTENT YOU SHARE
You own what you send us, such as a story, photo, video, podcast guest application or message. By sending it, you give Vet Nation permission to use it only in the ways you agreed to when you shared it, such as on our website, social media, podcast or materials about our work. This permission is free of charge, and you can take it back at any time; we will stop using it in anything new and remove it from our website and social media accounts within 10 business days.
We may edit content for length, clarity, accessibility (for example, adding captions or image descriptions) and privacy. We won’t change its meaning, and we won’t use your name or image to suggest you endorse something you don’t.
Only share content that is yours or that you have permission to share, and that is true to the best of your knowledge. Please don’t include Social Security numbers, medical records, VA claim numbers or financial account details.
8. DONATIONS
Online gifts are processed by Wix Payments. Vet Nation never receives or stores your full card number.
Vet Nation is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3). Gifts are tax-deductible to the extent the law allows. Unless we tell you otherwise when you give, you receive no goods or services in exchange. You will receive a receipt for your records.
We use gifts to carry out our mission. If you give to a specific program, we use your gift for that program; if we can’t, we will contact you before using it another way.
Monthly gifts continue until you cancel. Call (843) 531-1125 or email us at any time and we will cancel it and confirm in writing. There are no cancellation fees.
If a gift was made by mistake or without your permission, contact us as soon as possible and we will refund it.
The amounts and descriptions on our giving pages are accurate when posted. We do not add hidden fees, and we never pre-select extra charges without telling you.
Our financial information and IRS Form 990 are available on request and through our Candid nonprofit profile.
9. EMAILS AND TEXT MESSAGES
We send emails only to people who sign up, give or ask us to contact them. Every marketing email includes our mailing address and a working unsubscribe link, and we honor requests within 10 business days.
If we offer text messages, we send them only to people who agree to receive them. Reply STOP to stop or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. You never have to agree to texts to get help from us.
We do not sell, rent or trade your contact information.
10. ACCESSIBILITY
Vet Nation works to meet Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, Level AA, and to follow the Americans with Disabilities Act. Our Accessibility Statement explains how.
If any part of the site doesn’t work for you, call (843) 531-1125 or email team@myvetnation.org with “Accessibility” in the subject line. We reply within 72 hours, help you finish what you came to do another way, and provide information in large print or other formats at no cost. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the ADA, Section 504 or Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, or other disability rights laws, including your right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice.
11. PRIVACY
Our Privacy Notice explains what information we collect and how we use and protect it. You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or withdraw consent, as described on our Help & FAQ page.
12. OUR NAME AND CONTENT
The Vet Nation name, logo, photos, videos, podcast episodes and text on the site belong to Vet Nation or to the people and partners who gave us permission to use them. You are welcome to view, print and share pages for personal, non-commercial use, and to link to the site, as long as you don’t change the content or suggest we endorse you. Please ask us before using our name, logo or content for anything else. Partner logos and content belong to their owners.
If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, email team@myvetnation.org with the details and we will review it promptly.
13. YOUR CONSUMER RIGHTS
We aim to be honest and clear in everything we say. We do not make misleading claims about our programs, our results or how gifts are used, and we will correct any mistake we find or you point out.
Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have under federal or state consumer protection, privacy, charitable solicitation or disability laws that cannot be waived by agreement. If any part of these terms conflicts with those laws, the law controls.
14. HOW THE SITE IS PROVIDED
We work hard to keep the site accurate, secure and available, but we can’t promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted. To the extent the law allows, the site is provided “as is,” and Vet Nation is not liable for indirect or consequential losses from using it. This does not limit our responsibility for our own negligence, fraud or anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
15. IF THERE IS A PROBLEM
Please contact us first; most concerns can be solved with a phone call or email. If we can’t resolve it within 30 days, you may bring a claim in a court with authority over it. These terms are governed by the laws of South Carolina, except where the law of the state where you live gives you the right to have its laws or courts apply. You keep the right to use small-claims court and to contact any government agency. These terms do not require arbitration and do not take away your right to join a class action.
16. CHILDREN
The site is meant for adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and anyone under 18 should use member features or share content only with a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
17. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these terms. We will post the new effective date at the top of this page, and for important changes we will also post a notice on the site before they take effect. Changes never apply to a gift or a dispute that began before the change. Earlier versions are available on request.
